Welcome home Zane

Sorry, it's been a few weeks since I posted. Zane Joseph Engels arrive Monday, May 18th at 11:55pm via c-section. He was 6 lbs and 19 in long. He was a month early, as his due date was June 15th. Zane was as anxious to meet us as we were to meet him! He was pre-term but did not show many signs of a pre-term baby right away. 72 hours passed and he had a pretty rough day, had jaundice, difficulty keeping his temperature and weight up as well as trouble eating. Luckily we figured out he needed new formula and the billi lights and blanket to help with his jaundice and temperature.

We've been home a wekk now. We brought home the billi blanket but have been able to take him off of it since. He's so strong and such a great baby. He sleeps well and eats well and barely even fusses...other than when it's time it to eat or he has a messy diaper!! Oh, how I hope he will continue to be a great baby. He even lets us (mom) sleep for 4-5 hours at a time.

I hope you will enjoy watching him grow as much as we will. I plan to post video and pictures often for you all to enjoy!

Yay!

We had our Ultrasound today and found out some very great news...my placenta has moved up and I will not need to have a c-section, unless of course something goes wrong. We are both very excited. We also saw our very big boy too...they estimate he is already 6 lbs. 3 oz...yikes, and I have a month to go. He had his eyes open during the US, has chubby cheeks, his heart is big and thumping like crazy and his head is very low and down on my cervix (I disagree and say he's on my bladder) and in the correct position. All great news!

Otherwise, everything looks great. My doctor will go over the results next week, but he is very comfortable and will hopefully cook for another few weeks.

35 week OB appointment

Today was our 35 week doc appt. It went really well! My weight, blood pressure, etc. are all Great, according to my doc. She actually asked me if I feel as good as my tests look. All in all, I feel pretty good...now it is the beginning of the week, so by Friday I might have a different story:)

She said he is going to be a BIG little guy! He probably weighs about 6 lbs. Also, I've been having contractions and regular braxton hicks for the past few weeks, so she wants to do the ultrasound sooner rather than later. I'll have that on Friday to determine if the placenta has moved up enough to have a regular delivery vs. a c-section. Otherwise, everything else went well. She won't check to see if I'm dilated or effaced until after the ultrasound. She also said that if I don't have him a week prior y due date we may induce since he is getting so big.

In a nutshell the little guy and I are hanging in there and doing well. I just am anxious to meet him!!

Holy Belly!!!

Elephant sized ankles and no sleep...my how fun!

This week has been a little trying on my ole preggo body. The ankles have finally experienced true pregnancy as well. They have been extremely swollen since Tuesday and have not really gone down a whole lot even with elevation and time. Luckily I'll be chatting with the doc on Monday, but I'm sure she'll say, "Yep, you're very pregnant and it's just part of it." I'm getting closer to the big day each week and being pregnant just isn't as much fun as it was a few weeks ago. Sleep is now a past desire too. I know my body is preparing me for motherhood, but when working full time (traveling and managing a team) it does get pretty tough. Luckily my team is the best ever and are VERY understanding. The best part is that we'll have our little guy here in just a few weeks and all this will go away.

33 Weeks

I had my baby shower on Saturday! It was so much fun, thanks to my good friends Candace and Shanna! Thank you girls!! A lot of my work friends come to celebrate! Good food, good friends and a good time. I'm very fortunate to have so many people care about both Brian, Zane and myself!

We had our 33 week apt on Tuesday. Nothing too exciting, I'm just getting BIGGGGG. He is measuring right on and his heart beat was strong at 132. He is about 4.5-5 lbs right now and his favorite spot is right under my ribs and on the left side of my belly. We will go for one more two week appointment and then we start visiting the doc every week...we're getting so close to meeting him. I will have my ultrasound to determine if I still have placenta previa in two weeks, so please continue to pray that it has moved up.

Otherwise, Brian and I are just taking it easy. Luckily, he has been helping with dinner and chores ...otherwise we'd starve and the house would be nasty. I just can't move like I used to. I've been feeling great, just big and tired.
